Scone Recipe #2

Ingredients

2 cups of all purpose flour
1 tbsp. of baking powder
2 tbsp. of granulated sugars
1/2 tsp. of salt
1/3 cup of butter or shortening
1/2 cup of raisins, currants, or dried apricots
2/3 cup of milk

Makes 6-8 scones

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, stir flour, baking power, sugar, and salt together, and cut in butter with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles the texture of cornmeal

  2. Stir in dried fruit if desired

  3. Add milk and stir just until dough clings together

  4. On a slightly floured surface, roll or pay dough into a 7 inch circle 3/4 inches thick

  5. Cut into 6 to 8 wedges

  6. Place pan liner or parchment paper on baking sheet, and place wedges on the paper at least 1/2 inch apart

  7. Brush with additional milk and sprinkle sugar, if desired

  8. Back at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden
