Scone Recipe #1

Ingredients

2 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1 tsp. of cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. of baking soda
6 tbsp. of butter
1/2 cup of walnuts or currants
2 eggs
1 tbsp. of milk

Makes 6-8 scones

Directions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, cream of tartar, and baking soda, and cut in butter

  2. Stir in walnuts

  3. Combine eggs and milk, add to dry ingredients

  4. Stir until just moistened, forming dough into a ball

  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll or pat dough into circle, 3/4 inch think and about 7 inches in diameter

  6. Cut into 6 to 8 wedges

  7. Place pan liner or parchment paper on a baking sheet and place wedges about at least half inch apart on paper

  8. Brush with additional milk and sprinkle with sugar if desired

  9. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden
