Grandma Brennan's Pumpkin Pie O'Brien

This has become a Thanksgiving staple in our home, and we bring it to any dinner to which we are invited at Thanksgiving time.

 

Ingredients

2 tbsp. of butter, softened
3/4 cup of sugar
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. of salt
1/4 tsp. each of nutmeg and ginger
1 cup of canned pumpkin
1 cup of evaporated milk
1/4 cup of bourbon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees

  2. “Push butter” around until soft

  3. Using electric mixer add other ingredients one at a time

  4. Pour into unbaked pie crust

  5. Bake for 1 hour, then reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake additional 45 minutes

  6. Serve with sharp cheddar cheese
