Margaret Gaegler's Caramel Icing

This is great frosting for vanilla cake.

 

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups of light brown sugar
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 stick of butter
1/2 cup of milk or 1 cup of cream

Directions

  1. Slowly cook sugar, butter, and milk until it begins to boil

  2. Slow boil for 2-3 minutes (not too high on heat)

  3. Drop temperature and cool

  4. Beat until right consistency (dull=right)

Tip: If it’s too hard, add a little water and reheat.
