Russian Tea Cakes

This recipe is from Margaret Gaegler. It was one of our favorite holiday treats that we would make with “Aunt” Margie on Cookie Day at 5501 Albia Road right before Christmas every year. It wouldn’t be Christmas without them!

 

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups of pecans or walnuts
1/2 lb. of Oleo or butter
1/2 cup of powdered sugar
2 cups of flour
1 tsp. of vanilla extract
Powdered sugar (save for after baking)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Mix first 5 ingredients

  3. Roll between fingers into small balls

  4. Bake on cookie sheets for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned

  5. Roll in powdered sugar white still hot, then cool on waxed paper

  6. When cool, roll in powdered sugar again
