Aunt Margie's Pound Cake

Ingredients

3 sticks of butter
3 cups of sugar
6 eggs
3 cups of flour (sifted with baking powder)
1 tsp. of baking powder
2 tsp. of vanilla extract
1 tsp. of almond extract (if you do lemon icing, use lemon extract instead)
1 cup of milk

Glaze

1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp. of almond extract (or lemon for lemon icing)
5 tsp. of water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Cream together butter and sugar

  3. Add eggs one at a time

  4. Add dry ingredients and milk, gradually

  5. Add extracts

  6. Grease and flour a tube pan

  7. Bake for 1.15 hours

  8. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before removing from the pan

  9. For the glaze, sift together ingredients, adding water last as needed for spreadability
